Coming Out & GLBTQ Issues

Sexuality is a very charged issue in our society. Considering the access youth have to the media and internet in the 21^st century, questions of sexuality are being considered at a much younger age than a decade or so ago. The suicide statistics among gay youth are more than double the general population so assisting gay youth to be able to understand and integrate their sexuality allows for much healthier development.

Coming out is not just a youth issue. Sexuality awareness can happen at any age. By far the most difficult aspect of coming to terms with ones own sexuality is not really other peoples reactions but rather ones own internalized homophobia the struggle with self acceptance.

Besides working with people coming to term with their sexuality I also work with gay and lesbian couples on relationship and family issues. Also, like many other people in my practice, I work with gay and lesbian folks to improve the quality of their lives as well as assisting them to achieve their long term goals.
